A Shawnee myth says that once a bobcat trapped a rabbit in a tree. The rabbit talked the bobcat into building a fire. The embers scattered and got caught in the bobcat's fur. That is how the bobcat got it's spots. Lovely legend! Thank you so much, Mary Ellen!
